Hey there Lovelies,

September is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) awareness month. If you are like me and you LOVE the colour teal you’ll be happy to know that teal is one way to show your support to your cysters this month (albeit a small one!). PCOS is a condition that can affect many functions of the endocrine system but, for infertility purposes, it’s where the ovaries develop cysts every month instead of rupturing the follicle during ovulation. Because ladies with PCOS develop cysts and eggs are often not released it can be really challenging to get pregnant. No ruptured follicles, no eggs, no fertilization… you get the picture. Luckily, there are lots of drugs out there that can be used to try to manage this condition and diet and exercise have shown a great ability to stabilize the disease as well. To learn more about PCOS check out these awareness associations: http://www.pcosaa.org/ and http://www.pcosfoundation.org/.

Know any other foundations that work for PCOS specifically? Leave me a note in the comments.

XOXXO,

The Chicken
