Hello Lovelies,

My IVF appointment with Dr. Green-Eyes is fast approaching. As in, it’s this week fast. This is the appointment that we’ll use to determine the protocol for IVF #1. It will also give me all my newest hormone levels and AFC (antral follicle count). I’m very excited/anxious to get my hands on those numbers as I’ll be looking for any marked changes from the levels from last year. Especially as it was the only test last year that raised alarms. This will also be the first result for the AMH test (anti-mullerian hormone), which should tell us much more about my egg quality. I don’t know much about protocols, but I’m hoping for a flare cycle. My body’s very sensitive to hormones, and the last time I came off the pill my body freaked out and wouldn’t cooperate. So I’m scared I might down reg too intensely and my eggs won’t respond as well to stimulation. Also, since we know I’m working with early DOR, they’re likely to be poor responders anyways. All the more reason to flare. We’ll see what Dr. Green-Eyes thinks on the topic.

Joy of joys, I also started my period a day before the appointment so I can expect to start down regulating pretty much immediately after the protocol is chosen. Oh yeah, and to be a bundle of hormones as I wade through all the information. Thanks, PMS. This period turned out to be more emotionally charged than my last few. I had a full on melt down this CD1. Guess I was really hoping for a miracle BFP before treatment but no luck.

I’ll update you Thursday of the intended protocol and how the good Dr. felt about my test results. Until then I ask that you hold me in positive thoughts, or send prayers, or light candles, or whatever you personally do. I need it and very much appreciate it.

Love an overwhelmed and expectant,
Unpregnant Chicken

Oh, good luck with your appointment! Never be afraid to advocate for a protocol and ask why a particular protocol wasn’t chosen. It can make a difference in your care if you question everything (politely of course) to better understand your care and the decisions being made. Doctors are human, and humans aren’t perfect. I hope you get the protocol that is best for your body and leads to no more CD1 meltdowns… (totally understandable). Good luck!

      Jess,
Yes. Good reminder. It’s important to feel like you understand your treatment and why it was chosen. I also hope this is the last of my CD1 meltdowns. HAHA they are getting so old!.

Wishing you the very best. I remember feeling unusually free and hopeful during my first cycle. Finally my husband and I weren’t doing it alone – there was a third person (my Fertility Guy) there to help us. And as weird as that sounds, it didn’t feel weird at all! I hope you can feel that too.
