Hello Lovelies,

I’ve been working hard the last few weeks advocating for infertility and all the wonderful women who choose not to be as vocal about their path. Some of us don’t want to be “the voice of infertility”.

I do.

When I first started this blog I did it as a way to find more peace in my own journey. I thought I might reach a few people who needed the blog but that was the afterthought. It’s not really like that anymore. Yes, the blog still moves me and helps me cope as I go through treatments and deal with the uncertainty. But it’s also reaching people. That can no longer be an afterthought. As of right now, the blog is reaching a combined 811 people any time I’m on Twitter and Facebook. And there’s been over 25k hits to the blog. This means that my voice is touching people. Helping them through the horrendous pain of infertility. Through the uncertainty, treatment and loss that goes with it. I’m already having an impact and I dig it!

I want to help. I want to alleviate pain from those who don’t have support in real life or find that they still need more. I want to talk about infertility and how it affects everything in a person’s life. In good ways and in bad. So that’s what I’m going to do.

I’m going to advocate.

  • I’ll be writing more guest post for larger blogs, just like I did for Pregnant Chicken. I’m going to find ways to relate it to their sites because it really does relate to almost every aspect of life. HuffPost, I’m coming for you.
  • I’ve also contacted multiple universities in my province and am now signed up to give four talks about the various aspects of infertility. I promise to post the dates and locations here as they are made available to me.  I’ll try to tape them all.

I’m sure in the coming months I’ll continue to change and refine my vision of what being an advocate of infertility means to me. I just felt compelled to let you know that it’s starting and that you were my catalyst. I’m thrilled beyond thrilled to be reaching each and every one of you. Now, it’s time to go out and reach some more!

XOXXO,
Unpregnant Chicken

I think that it is so wonderful that you’re becoming an advocate for IF. If it weren’t for your Pregnant Chicken guest post, I would never have discovered the wonderful support system available for those of us suffering from IF. I would never have thought about blogging my journey until I read your posts. You are already having an impact!!

      Jenn,
It’s a large and mostly hidden support system. There are many, many great blogs. Follow the link to stirrup queens blog list on my sidebar. SO MANY CHOICES! Also, if you Twitter, the IF community there is massive and very active!

Thank you for being loud! I find so much support reading your posts and remembering that it isn’t just me on this nonsensical journey. Thanks for putting yourself out there and putting in so much hard work: you really are doing something great.

      Lauren,
Thanks! It feels really great! I feel like I am walking the right path for me. Even though I wish I didn’t have to. I’m gonna keep fighting for more air time so that others start to understand.

      NorthStar,
These are all in Alberta for now. Do you live in my province?! I’m not sure if it’s going to be open to the public. I’ll let you know. Otherwise, I will be taping it and putting it up on the blog when possible.

This is interesting. I’m not really sure what you’re suggesting though. I don’t see a proposal. Are you suggesting that I run the podcast?
